The stay at home order for Houston and Harris County has been extended until May 20, 2020 for all residents not supporting critical infrastructure, while Phase 1 of reopening the Texas economy begins under distancing, hygiene, and occupancy guidelines. Port operations remain essential critical infrastructure in order to maintain supply chain fluidity; thus, the Port of Houston remains open for business and operational during this period.
The revised order restates that “If someone in your household has tested positive for COVID-19, all residents of the household are ordered to isolate at home until cleared by a public health authority or medical provider.” We encourage all staff to stay home and see a doctor if you or any member of your immediate family has come in contact with a person with a confirmed case of COVID-19 or is experiencing flu like or mild to severe symptoms of respiratory infection including fever, cough, or shortness of breath. Please let HR know as soon as possible if you or a member of your immediate family has come in contact with a person with a confirmed case of COVID-19 or is experiencing such symptoms as well as the diagnosis so we can alert others as appropriate.
TBS will continue to maintain essential staff to complete critical elements of our operation until the stay at home order has been lifted. All TBS employees should be operating under strict instructions to maintain social distancing and preventative hygiene, prioritizing safety.
In an effort to further safeguard our community, we completed a disinfectant and antimicrobial treatment for all our buildings and common areas. The treatment process leaves a coating that kills harmful bacteria and then protects the surface from having cross-contamination. All the products utilized are water based, EPA Registered and have undergone rigorous safety testing. The residual technology helps to protect surfaces for an extended period of time.i This effort is meant to be supplemental, but should not take the place of frequent disinfecting, social distancing, and preventative hygiene.
Each member of our team working during this time should have received documentation identifying them as an employee supporting critical infrastructure. If you have not, please reach out to your direct report. Please keep this document on you at all times.
In addition to our operational team, the following teams will continue to operate:
- Our security team will continue to monitor our gates and maintain roaming responsibilities 24/7.
- Customer Service will continue to respond to operational and distribution needs daily.
- Our IT staff is prepared and will ensure that systems continue to function as normal.
We understand that some members of our team might not be comfortable working during the stay at home order. If this applies to you and you would prefer to remain home during this time, please contact TBS Management immediately. Know that choosing to remain home during this time will not reflect poorly on you in any way.
Please continue to communicate with TBS Management, and do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Thank you for your support and understanding as we navigate through this unprecedented event. We will continue to evaluate daily and update promptly as things evolve.
